VICTORIA — A victim of a fatal shooting at a construction site in Victoria’s north has been identified as a cartoon girl, police said Wednesday.
The body of a woman was found Tuesday in the yard of a home in the 500 block of North Maple Street, about three miles south of the site of the shooting, said Victoria Police Department spokesman Lt.
The woman was wearing a green T-shirt and blue jeans.
Police said she was shot multiple times in the head and body and later died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
Victoria Police Chief Mike Dehn said the woman was a friend of the woman’s boyfriend, who had recently moved out of the home.
Dehn would not say how the couple was linked to the shooting.
The woman’s father, who did not want to be identified, said the victim and the man lived in a home on North Maple.
The man said he saw the woman in her 20s on a couple of occasions and was surprised when she didn’t wear makeup.
He said he was shocked when the woman didn’t answer his phone calls or respond to his text messages.
Police said the man and the woman were friends and that they often spent time together at their apartment in the 400 block of South Maple Street.
The police chief said it was unclear if the man was the shooter.
The man was arrested Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder and criminal mischief.
